Cristina and the sea turtle conservation & culture experience programs in Sri Lanka

In Sea turtle conservation program I could help in Sea Turtle Hatchery works, starting from cleaning the fish, feeding turtles, cleaning the farm and the beach in front of the farm, looking for the eggs hatched in the sand or for turtles that were laying eggs near there, to help them.
In the Culture experience program, I participated in the different type of works: I played with children of Children’s Home, I helped in the cleaning of a Buddhist monastery and I also could wash an elephant.
Local coordinators were very kind, welcoming and helpful! They were always present and happy to help me and answer my questions. They wanted to give us a good experience of volunteering and of Sri Lankan places and culture. They were available to meet our requests or curiosities.
Volunteer in Sri Lanka has been one of the best choices I’ve ever done in my life.
I could take care of turtles, animals so precious and beautiful, play with children and see their sincere smiles, discover local culture and tradition (elephant, Buddhist temples and so on). But mostly, I would love a new Country and new tradition. I could realize me on helping this reality, so wonderful but also so needy.
It was an important experience for me, and I think we all should thank, and maybe help, people that work on volunteer organization.
I really appreciated Sri Lanka and its people!
